I am inspired to write a little bit about B Vitamins today and the role that they play in good health. The Bee is a little play on words because once we do a little overview of all the great information out there, we’re going to look into Bee products and the results I have received using them.

The benefits of B vitamins are great:
Ease Stress
Treat anxiety and depression
Aid memory
Relieve PMS
Reduce heart-disease risk
Great for your skin and hair too

The 11 members of what’s known as the vitamin B complex are critical nutrients for all things mind-related: mood, memory, even migraines can benefit from the B’s. In the right amounts, the B’s can quell anxiety, lift depression, ease PMS for women, and boost your energy. And getting them couldn’t be easier.

The B vitamins are a chemically related family of nutrients that work as a team. Their mood-boosting and other health benefits (see chart below) result from intricate behind-the-scenes work in the body. Some B vitamins help cells burn fats and glucose for energy. Others help make neurotransmitters like serotonin. And some B’s assist with the production and repair of DNA.

Many of us don’t get enough B’s; according to the USDA, deficiencies in folic acid, B12, and B6 are especially common. Ensuring that your diet contains plenty of B-rich foods — dark-green vegetables, protein from animal sources, and whole grains — is critical. I love juicing peppers, kale, celery, cucumber, apple, pear and either lemon or grapefruit which is super yummy and loaded with vitamins. There is no energy used by the body to process green juices and not only do they make me feel fantastic but my skin glows!

If your stress level is high, your mood feels off-kilter, or if your diet is low in B’s, you’ll benefit from the higher amounts found in quality supplements. Personally, I am not big on taking a ton of supplements and like to get my balanced nutrition through food, however, when I do take them, I love whole food vitamins because your body uses them the same as food and they assimilate perfectly. Also I find that they don’t bother my stomach at all. Perhaps that is because you take them with meals for the best absorption. What ever the case, they work very well and you are getting your monies worth. Standard Process is the brand that my natural practitioner offers and I honestly felt the difference immediately.

When people think of specialty products for the body, most do not think of using bee products. However, this all natural supplement is becoming increasing popular in the form of dietary supplements, cremes and lotions. There are four components to the various products available: royal jelly, bee pollen, bee propolis and honey. How does the body benefit from the use of these products?

Royal jelly is a milky white substance that is used as the main food source for the queen bee. This complex compound allows the bee to be stronger and live longer than the other bees in the hive. Royal Jelly has a high vitamin B-12 content as well as proteins, amino acids and aspartic acid. A person may choose to use this specialty product as a supplement to dietary needs. Royal Jelly has been known to increase energy, strengthen the immune system, reduce stress and produce a healthy, youthful appearance to skin tone.

Bee pollen is another product most people do not consider when choosing a specialty product for their diets. Because pollen contains all amino acids used by the body and is high in protein, many scientists consider this one of nature’s most complete products. As with all other bee products, pollen is completely natural. Many athletes choose to take bee pollen as a dietary supplement due to its energizing benefits. Bee pollen is also known to reduce the effects of stress on the body.

Bee propolis is a waxy substance taken from the hives and trees near honey bees. The use of propolis dates back to ancient times. The product is rich in vitamins, minerals and antioxidants. Bee propolis is used by many people to enhance their immune system. However, it is also used as a disinfectant due to the fact that bee propolis can effectively destroy harmful bacteria.

Most people think of honey as a favorite dessert topping and are unaware of the many healing qualities that the product has. Honey not only contains essential vitamins and minerals, but also has complex carbohydrates, fructose and glucose. In most countries, honey is renowned for its healing properties, energy conversion in the body and its effects on gastric problems. Honey also aids in warding off harmful bacteria and viruses by releasing hydrogen peroxide in the body.
Bees are some of the oldest forms of insects in the world. Through millions of years and changing times and climates, bees have remained unscathed. Because of this, specialty products such as royal jelly, bee propolis, bee pollen and honey are being used as dietary supplements.

I always use organic raw products where available and have been quite impressed with YS Organic Bee Farm’s Raw Honey, Bee Pollen Granules, and the YS Organic Royal Jelly, Pollen, Propolis and Ginsing. They have other products available as well but these are the ones that I have tried first hand. Of all the different brands of raw honey that I have tried, YS brand is absolutely the best and so delicious! The raw honey tastes like whipped honey and has the best flavor I have ever tasted. Every jar is consistent in texture and taste. The Royal Jelly combo is not quite as sweet as the honey with a what I think is a beer taste in the back ground. You’ll have to let me know what you think if you try it. They say to get the best absorption results from the Royal Jelly you should mix it with some honey. Isn’t that interesting! And tasty!

Every morning for breakfast I make two Ezekiel sesame toasts, drizzle on some extra virgin olive oil and almond butter and sprinkle on some Bee Pollen granules. I enjoy that after I take the dogs out for their morning potty break. They get cookies for being good and I sip on a delicious green juice and get a little Vitamin D from the beautiful sun while watching my gardens grow. It’s a great way to start the day! Seeing that I don’t each much sugar, I have to be careful with the Raw Honey and the Royal Jelly combo. They seem to give me quite a rush so when I do eat some I take a teaspoon of each on some Ezekiel bread with almond butter on it. If you put the almond butter on the bread first and then add the Raw Honey and Royal Jelly combo and swirl it around, it thickens everything up nicely. It seems to keep my energy level stable without causing an uncomfortable sugar rush and it’s very yummy too! Don’t forget to sprinkle on some Bee Pollen as well….ok all of this yummy talk is making me hungry! But isn’t it great that it’s hunger for healthy things? I think so!

In closing, I would like to add one more thing about the Bee Products, ok two! Please take into consideration any allergies to Bees or other stinging insects when consuming Bee products because they can very well cause the same allergic reaction as being stung by those who are sensitive. Please consult with your health care provider before using any Bee Products if you have any cause for concern. I care about you and want you happy and healthy! The second thing that I want to tell you is that my skin has become plumped and simply dewy, you know, more moisturized. The dark circles that I have had for years have vanished and the sunken area all around my eyes has filled out too! And in all honesty, in addition to adding Bee products to my daily routine, I have changed my diet to eliminate processed foods and I drink a lot of green vegetable juices, eat tons of veggies and low sugar fruit, organic and raw where I can manage and I am sure that this contributes to all of my newly found health benefits as well. I see a natural practitioner and go for acupuncture and sound wave therapy. I practice Kundalini Yoga, meditate and do Qi Gong for balance in my life. It’s working fantastic and I feel wonderful!
